Vasilopita - Greek New Years Cake

Instructions
- 1Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9-inch square pan. Combine flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and orange rind. Set aside.
- 2Cream butter and 3/4 cup sugar together in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time. Beat in flour mixture alternately with milk, mixing just until incorporated. Stir in walnuts.
- 3Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool while you make the honey syrup.
- 4To make the honey syrup: Combine honey, 1 cup sugar, and water in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer and cook 5 minutes. Stir in lemon juice, bring to a boil and cook for 2 minutes.
- 5Cut cake into diamond shapes and poor honey syrup over the cake.
